Image — Tips & Support

Image renders a single picture from your dataset with options for sizing, fit, borders, and shadows. Use the guidance below to optimize quality and performance.

Tips and Tricks

Use valid URLs

The url you use must be publicly accessible, even when viewing an "internal-only" report. Power BI can't interpret your security requirements.

Host on an appropriate platform

Host your images on a cloud platform like Azure Blob Storage or Amazon S3. Platforms like SharePoint do not expose a valid image URL and cannot be used.

Can't view an image?

The top issue when not being able to view images is due to security. Please see this KB article to troubleshoot your problem.

Use high‑quality, right‑sized images

Pick a resolution close to the displayed size to avoid blurry upscaling or heavy downscaling.

Pick the correct object fit

Try contain, cover, or fill depending on whether you want to preserve aspect ratio or fill the frame.

Borders and shadows

Subtle border radius and shadows help images stand out without distracting from data.

Performance tips

Prefer CDN‑hosted HTTPS URLs. Avoid excessively large files and test in Power BI Service.

Accessibility

Provide a descriptive title/label in your dataset so tooltips convey meaning to all users.

Need certification or export?

If you need a Microsoft‑certified visual or export workflows, consider Image Pro. See resources below.
